Great book. A must for Worshippers

Great book about worship. All worshippers, "Worship Leaders", and Ministers should read this book. Talks about all sides of worship- not just music. Some of the book has the authors opinion.. which I (as a 21 year old Baptist) didn't agree sometimes. but that is expected.. overall great book

I am a member of a liturgical church that believes in the Word and Sacraments and I am attending a Christian College that is hostile toward that form of worship. I had to read this book for a class. If you think that "worship" and Scripture reading are separated somehow, then you might like this book. If, like me, you are liturgical in practice and believe that the entire service (not just the songs) is worship then most likely you will find this book a little off center. The author contradicts himself within the first three pages on the purpose of worship. This book is full of heady sounding fluff and redundancy. Yes there are good points about this book but it didn't need to be as long as it is to say what it does. My time could have been much better spent.

His fears that things might be a little dull are quickly dispelled by the everyday business of vexatious officers, difficult choices over which NCOs to promote not to mention the incendiarists on the doorstep of the King himself. But it’s when the Sixth are sent to Brussels for the fifteenth anniversary celebrations of the battle of Waterloo and find themselves caught up in the Belgian uprising against Dutch rule that the excitement really starts. Will Hervey be able to keep out of the fighting – a war that would lead, nearly a century later, to Britain’s involvement in an altogether different war – while safeguarding his country’s interests? Not likely!

About the Author
Allan Mallinson is a former army officer of 35 years' service. As well as the Matthew Hervey series, which includes Honorable Company and The Sabre's Edge, he is the author of Light Dragoons, a history of four British Cavalry regiments, one of which he commanded. He writes for the Times and Spectator.

I must be mellowing in my dotage, since some volumes ago the lack of action caused me no little angst, whereas now I find myself almost appreciating the picture drawn of England in 1830 as Hervey navigates the issues of command of a regiment and neglect of his family. On the up side too, we see something of Captain Peto, who promptly steals every scene he is in: and perhaps a little happiness is coming his way at last. If nothing else, I could forgive a lot due to that alone, since Peto is perhaps - along with Fairbrother - the best man appearing in the Hervey series. As I've said before, I'd prefer to have read another nautical series with Peto the hero, but Mr Mallinson writes of what he knows, a cavalry regiment, and there is some little value in that also.

Early Hervey volumes were described as "a cavalry Sharpe" - and that may have been true then, but certainly is not now. This is a much loving fictional history of the rural troubles of the winter of 1830, and then of commemorations of Waterloo with yet more civil disturbance (but by foreigners who really don’t know better, rather than by Englishmen). In the end, I enjoy the history enough to let the paucity of battles pass by, but I do have to say that any blurb on the back of the book promising action should be taken with a very large pinch of salt.

I don’t know where Hervey goes after this, and to a degree I don’t mind. This is more Austen than Cornwell, but if you can manage that, well recommended.

Allan Mallinson has replaced Patrick O'Brien as my favorite author of historical fiction. His Matthew Hervey series is outstanding- beautifully and intelligently written, nearly flawlessly researched, and vividly descriptive. Interestingly, although there is relatively little "action" in this, his latest installment, I think it may actually be my favorite of the series. Mallinson is not afraid to take us into his character's inner life, and Hervey's is extremely well-drawn. His is a deeper, richer character than most heroes of historical fiction. He sins, and feels remorse that is believable for the son of a cleric. The secondary characters are very well done, also. This is a mature, intelligently written novel, and at the same time, it has enough excitement even for the literary adrenalin fan.

Compared to the other books, I thought this one was a little weaker, although still enjoyable. No epic battles, a bit of politics, just seemed a little slow although well written as always.

I think the book is very complete and your approach is similar (but more detailed) to the project management approach that Roger Pressman and I followed in our general software engineering text (so I agree with it). Your coverage is very complete and I agree with the sequencing of topics. The writing is very accessible to upper level undergraduate students and to masters students.

It is a very good book and your attempt to cover all the areas of software project management is commendable. It is definitely a good book for introducing the students to the all the different aspects of software project management. About the Author

Ashfaque Ahmed has more than 22 years of experience in the software industry. He has a BSc in engineering and an MBA in information systems. He has worn many hats during his career, including that of a project manager, test manager, system analyst, and business analyst. He has managed projects of sizes varying from a few thousand dollars worth to projects worth millions of dollars. Some of the larger projects ran for a span of more than two years. He has also worked on software product development projects that typically run for decades and that keep adding new features and modifying existing product features almost endlessly.

Ahmed is a popular author. He has recently authored a book titled Software Testing as a Service, which was published by CRC Press, Boca Raton, FL, in September 2009. He has written more than 15 research papers for Technology Evaluation Centers and Tech Target. He is also a contributing author at Technology Evaluation Centers (www.technologyevaluation.com) and an expert at Tech Target Application Development Media Group (http://www.techtarget.com/).

Software project management made easy

I am a chemical engineer and have good appetite for reading books on
many subjects including on software and IT. I also happen to have
interest in learning about the IT industry as it increasingly
influences my day to day life. Recently I bumped on this book. I liked
this book as I found that reading this book was a cake walk for me.
Learning new concepts is not easy. But this book makes this job easy.
