This book comes with pre made flashcards for easy practice, chapters that follow a practical and logical sequence, and a CD-Rom that allows you to hear pronunciations of the specific medical terms covered. This book is providing my first exposure to medical terminology, and I feel it is a great resource now, and it will continue to be in the future as well. It has my recommendation!

Worse than previous editions

Terrible compared to previous editions which were actually pretty good. The order in which the chapters are presented has been re-arranged unnecessarily. The concept of energy and gravitational forces are taught after angular momentum rather than immediately following forces. It seems they made changes just to make changes so they could justify new editions. Very disappointed in this edition.

Excellent reference book for introductory physics courses

Being a freshmen of physics major in the first year of my university life, I engaged in three introductory physics courses, namely, mechanics, thermodynamics and optics, and electricity and magnetism. It was a surprise to me that all three courses recommended "Physics" by Resnick and Halliday as textbook. After one year of study, I found reading this book awarding and useful for my later and more in-depth studies. Although I didn't read the part on quantum physics and relativity, I'll give my comment on this book based on what I've read.
The book was written in an comprehensive way. No matter you 're a newcomer to physics or you already have some basis on general physics, the writers always give a careful and detailed desription on how they arrive at the results, and what assumptions they've made, so that you'll get a correct picture and understanding of the topic. Unlike some other textbooks, this book functions as a bridge for me to the more advanced physics courses, without much difficulties arised.
To improve the text, my idea is to introduce vector calculus in the E&M part, since it's essential for further studies on the topic.

A Truley Authoritative Text

Haliday, Resnick, and Krane may all be well into the latter years in life, but the beautiful text they put together remains superb. It has been used, since it was first published in 1960, by many prominent universities. This text is the most rigorous text in the nation, if not the world. Its perfection stands in its title, fifth edition, which means its only been revised, including the latest edition, a total of 6 times since 1960. Compared to texts of similar authority that are entering 20th editions. The material is tough, but it prepares those who are willing to be avid students and those who are looking to be competitive. The book inquires the mind to open and bend. I reiterate that this text is an authority, because there is no use buying Schaum's or supplementary texts, because almost all the problems used by Schaum's and other "help" books draw their problems from a mix of three authoritative sources. This text is usually the main one for all physics, so in essence buying "help" books is like buying this book twice. Just doing the problems and exercises at the end of each chapter will prepare any student for any physics test there is. It engraves understanding that can be manipulated for the readers own use. I do have to say that like most text in physics and other subjects it doesn't mix topics from other sections like a real test would, but that again is unnecessary if the reader understands each chapter. Another great thing is that the book assumes you know certain things in some problems, so if you don't, you have to go look it up. One example being the astronomical unit. It's very open to getting the reader engaged. I recommend it for all physics courses and just used it for my mechanics and waves course. It's a text that someone can always go back to for a better understanding.

To her credit, she manages to effectively communicate sometimes difficult material without resorting to the complicated jargon that one often finds in similar psychoanalytic texts. Eda Goldstein & Ego Psychology

Eda Goldstein does a great job of describing, in detail, Ego Psychology from a historical, theoretical, and practical perspective. I was particularly fond of Part II dealing with the ego and its functions and defenses. She writes with a clarity that is difficult to find when reading books dealing with detailed theoretical perspectives. I would highly recommend this book to socials workers and pyschologists alike. It is a wealth of information that you will find yourself referencing again and again.

Great for every teen!

I wish I had this eBook when I was growing up. I was truly an entrepreneur at heart when I was growing up. However I think as a society we have placed our children into a mold and try to send them through a set of expectations as they walk through this life, all the while not really thinking that some of these teens may not find a place to fit in because they are natural born leaders with the spirit of an entrepreneur. I think as parents we need to help our children experiment with being an entrepreneur in order to see if this is where they fit in because there aren't many opportunities for them to do so in school. This eBook is a great read, not only for teens, but parents too. I would like to encourage parents to read this eBook and then encourage your teen to explore the idea of being an entrepreneur!
