Frank Serafini is the author of the Heinemann title Classroom Reading Assessment. He is a leading voice on the reading workshop, whether the topic is implementation, planning, assessment, or comprehension. His passion for the workshop has helped tens of thousands of teachers find more effective and professionally satisfying teaching through Heinemann professional books such as Around the Reading Workshop in 180 Days, Lessons in Comprehension, and The Reading Workshop and his newest book released in late 2015, Reading Workshop 2.0. Reflect, Manage, and get your own Data

This book is super. When I started to read it I felt as though it was going to take what I was already trying to do as a teacher of 5th graders and make it better!
I love how Serafini puts teachers at the center and inspires you to trust what you know, to do your best practice, and get kids MORE involved in their assessments.
I already have student led conferences in the Fall and Spring, already used Portfolios, and already had kids doing weekly reflections, now all of those things will improve- plus I learned some other really helpful ways to "collect information" about the group of readers I have...It is summer, I've had the time to read and mull it over, and I'm hoping what I've learned in this text rolls into my practice without too much stress.
