Good if using for individuals child

Good if using for individuals child, I wanted to use it for my classroom. Didn't work out that well. I ended up tearing out the pages, putting them in plastic sleeves, using an erase able marker, and using in centers.

Astonishing change in playing . . .

Picked up this book about a week ago and have been dedicated a good amount of my practice time to it. First off, if you've been playing "crossed" for years (or decades) this is going to seem intimidating at first. The fact that the very first exercise involves doing double taps and pull outs with your right hand seemed a little overwhelming at first, but once I got past that and got to the "Tom Integration" beats the whole power and glory of open handed playing became very apparent to me.

After a week of playing "open handed" I'm absolutely astonished at how much my left hand has improved and wouldn't be surprised if (after quite a bit more practice) I end up switching to open handed (left hand lead) for the vas majority of my playing.

Only complaint is that I wish they wrote out some of the exercises in more detail. Currently working on playing 5 beat phrases over a 4 note pattern and it would be a heck of a lot easier if it was all written out on the page.

Good stuff. Recommend.

(To folks who think playing "open handed" is like starting over from scratch: It's not at all. The beats and patterns are already in your brain. Switching what hand does what is indeed work but it's nowhere near as much work as you're probably thinking. And the benefit of being able to lead beats and fills with either hand are tremendous. Currently I'm playing all my hi-hat beats with my left hand and all my ride cymbal beats with my right. And it's awesome.)

OPEN HANDED PLAYING Vol. I

This is an amazing source for drumming. I've learned so much from this book. I think this is a must for everyone who wants to improve their technique. I highly recommend this book for beginners, intermediate drummers and even professional drummers.

A different approach to drumming that works great!

I've been using this book for over 6 months now, It really has opened a new world of possibilities for me, playing open handed really gives you that extra freedom that close handed playing sometimes does not have...

I use both styles depending on what I'm playing and what I'm trying to say with my playing.

It's a great tool for the drummer that wants to try different things and for more advanced players It really is a great workout but also a really great challenge!

Video of the Year-Father of the Year more like it!

Tim McGraw is one of my most favorite people. He has said, done and sang some amazing things over the course of his career. He has kept his family close to his heart and #1 in his life. Even supporting and loving his own father when most would have said " to heck with you too!" I got this book for my niece for her graduation and hoped that his message of love, tolerance and kindness might resonate in her life into the woman she will beome. We could all learn,grow and love other's from his message in this song and written in this book.

Good Song and nice book.

This was a gift for my father in law, who loves the music video and lyrics. Though it is just the song written with some nice pictures, the overall treasure/heirloom value is priceless. It is a gift to last and will make a nice coffee table read or maybe even a good first date with my daughter time. It is a wonderful song and the hardback book brings it to life once again.
